I love the city but may love getting away from it even more. When I really need to decompress, we head straight to Mendocino, this frozen in time, difficult to get to, tiny town on the coast. It’s quirky and lovely and straight out of a novel. This time around we stayed at an uber charming, pet friendly inn on the water, The Inn at Schoolhouse Creek & Spa. Our cottage was spacious with a beautiful soaking tub in the bedroom and roaring fireplace. We met the owners, Sandy and Kevin, at the wine and cheese reception and they were so warm and welcoming. Josh and I chatted with them for over an hour and felt like we had known them forever. For this adventure, I went with flowy dresses and a denim jacket as it – despite the sun being out- always feels a bit chilly and windy. It’s very much part of the charm! Ocean breezes, a glass of sherry and a fireplace – perfection. The cherry on top was the doggy brunch menu. Yes, you read that correctly. Brodey went with the Rufus special, affectionately named after Sandy and Kevin’s mastif puppy who prefers shredded Covello beef with scrambled eggs and a peanut butter dog cookie for dessert. Yes, we are those people and yes, this is real life. See my photos and shop my vibrant, fire-colored dress at the bottom of the post. xo
